Usually being in flats or small houses in urban environments i can work with this to my advantage.

Creative Groups

Creative Groups Such as these three, Deviant Art, Flickr and Blogger all hold large target audiences interested in artistic and media based subjects. Giving me inside information into the biggest WW filling station in Europe. Filling stations were the main type of factories for filling bombs with the explosives in WW1 and WW2. The book isnt design based but the information in it sparks off ideas for representing my fact. The factory itself has now been demolished and its site is home to Buckshaw village, A ever developing housing project. This for me makes the factory and whole ROF Chorley site even more inspiring, due to his mystery and demolished buildings.

ROF Chorley Posters

A History Of ROF Chorley

The posters from the Chorley ROF book show a strong influence in Information design. Displaying a serious yet practical nature on informing rules and notices. The approach on making these allows an eye catching yet amusing effect. These images give me a strong look into a grungy run down approach i can take with my work. I can take more than just reference from this for my style i want to endorse, I can also carry the colour pallet out, including the foggy look in some of the pictures.

Colour, Just A Mask?

These set of colours used from WGSN are seasonally based on Winter/Autumn. Something i would very much like to incorporate into my final. The use of winter is something i would like to use very because it would work well down the path i wish to venture, due to the grungy nature and approach I'm trying to endorse. The use of winter carries out the dull and empty feel ,once there for reason but now forgotten. Even though some of these colours are quite vibrant they mask the image underneath, allowing the consumer to become attracted and then to read deeper into the imagery. The pinks are a very strong candidate for this."A collection of fresh, muted, powdery shades." Masking the worn cabin and alley way with a seductive pink hue.

John Grimwade Information Designer

John Grimwade's approach to information design is a really effective one. People Wouldn't think about such a thing twice but knowing that living and commuting where they do affects their hearing as such as this. 85 decibels is known as the threshold to hearing problems, so knowing and seeing this decibel reading everyday points out a grissly detail. Being placed at these choke points in citys and being on such a large scales attracts the eye very well. Using such a factor to gain publicity works well because people relate said information and help with it. Therefore remembering the product.

WWF Campaign

WWF

The WWF Campaigns always have a strong impact because of their approach on design is exactly this. Their approach on getting their message across massively depends on shock value. Grabbing the eye and making you stand still for a second just to take the information in. The intelligence behind their ideas and outcomes to prove their points are extremely effective. This I think is an outstanding tool in design of which every designer should aim for.
